Dr. Cynthia L. Kleinegger (Cindy) earned her DDS degree from the University of Colorado in 1990.  She then completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Denver, Colorado and became a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Dentists.  Prior to pursuing specialty training, she associated in a general dental practice and was Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. 

In 1995, Cindy completed the Advanced Education Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Masters of Science degree in Stomatology at the University of Iowa and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.  Upon completion of her training, she joined the faculty of the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry.  She returned to the University of Iowa in 1996 where she was on the faculty for nine years.  During this time she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Director of the Advanced Education Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Cindy joined the faculty of Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry as an associate professor in the Department of Pathology and Radiology in 2005.  In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she practiced in the Oral Pathology Biopsy Service and maintained a busy clinical practice focused on mucosal diseases, salivary gland dysfunction and non-odontogenic pain.  She has presented numerous CE courses on these subjects.  Her research has focused on oral mucosal diseases.

Cindy and her husband, Roger Carpenter, live in Portland with their Italian Greyhound, Gina.  Cindy and Roger enjoy hiking, skiing, cycling and traveling.  They also enjoy going to the Oregon Symphony, Artichoke Music Coffee House, and Portland’s wonderful theaters. 

Cindy joined Northwest Oral Pathology in 2014.
